KowTown Gravel Cycling Event Returns for Second Year
Fundraiser to Support Middle Park Health’s Wellness Center Renovation
Kremmling, CO - KowTown Gravel, a one-day cycling event based in Kremmling, returns for its second year on July 6, 2024. Three course options predominantly feature gravel backroads including Bureau of Land Management space, with a section on private ranchland that will be accessible only on race day.
Created as a fundraiser supporting the Middle Park Health Foundation’s restoration of the local Wellness Center gym floor, organizers expect proceeds to surpass last year’s $8000 donation.
“Community support and involvement was wonderful and appreciated last year. Cliffview Assisted Living sold breakfast burritos and sweets. West Grand High’s band played at the afterparty and campers stayed on school grounds. Ranchers on horseback posted alongside the course and cheered on participants. It really showcased the best of our community,” said Rose Gamlin, a member of the organizing committee representing Middle Park Health.
The 2024 event already has hundreds of cyclists registered for the event. Out-of-town visitors are expected to plump Grand County’s economy through lodging, food, retail and beverage sales.
Race organizers are working with the BLM, local ranchers, and the Sheriff’s office to ensure little negative impact to the environment and local residents. All roads will remain open to traffic and major intersections will have deputies or volunteers stationed to improve safety. Aid stations will include portable toilets and garbage cans. Volunteers are instructed to remove any garbage and event signage before leaving their posts.
Local organizations and businesses are capitalizing on the weekend’s participants. Cliffview Assisted Living will offer a spaghetti dinner for participants and spectators on Friday, July 5 plus breakfast burritos and coffee the morning of July 6 as a fundraiser for resident activities. Businesses can sell products or services at the expo in Town Square on July 6th, and should contact race organizers for information.
Non-racers are encouraged to volunteer for the event or simply cheer on the participants along the racecourse. Details for the weekend’s events are found on www.kowtowngravel.com
