Discover the Fraser River
The Fraser River is the first main tributary river to the Colorado River in the Arapaho National Forest. It then flows past Winter Park, Fraser and Tabernash, and joins the Colorado River from the south 2 miles west of Granby.
Often overlooked, the Fraser River offers the chance for avid fisherman to land brown, cutthroat and rainbow trout as large as 20 inches. From Winter Park to Fraser, the river can be accessed by the Fraser River Trail (hiking or mountain bikes), from USFS campgrounds, or road turnouts. The only exception is as the river flows through private land in the town of Winter Park. You can go fishing in the forested lands, or where the river starts into the valley. The Fraser River provides many easily accessible locations to drop a line. Access to the Fraser River is limited downstream from the town of Fraser. Look for and respect private property notices. Some of the best fishing is in the canyon downstream from Tabernash.
