Byers Canyon

Byers Canyon stretches a breathtaking 8 miles between Hot Sulphur Springs and Kremmling, Colorado. The best way to enjoy it? Take the 2-mile scenic drive through Byers Canyon down Highway 40, just west of the town of Hot Sulphur Springs.

The winding highway follows the rushing Colorado River — and throughout the year you can spot Grand County wildlife like elk, deer and even moose. On the opposite side of the river, you’ll see the Union Pacific Railroad’s Moffat Route tracks following the same path. Trains can often be seen passing through this spectacular terrain going to and from Denver. You can even catch the California Zephyr Amtrak train to see the canyon from a new perspective.
