Beginning on May 23, 2025, a Timed Entry Permit reservation will be required to enter Rocky Mountain National Park between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Timed Entry Permits will allow visitors to enter the park within a designated two-hour timeframe. Once you enter during your designated window of time, you can stay as long as you like. Reservations will be required for all areas of Rocky Mountain National Park, including the exterior trailhead areas for East Shore, North Inlet and East Inlet (Adam’s Falls trailhead).

Permits can be purchased online at recreation.gov (a $2 processing fee applies). Permits will be released on the first of each month for entry during the following month (ie: July permits will be released on June 1, August permits released on July 1, etc). Additionally, leftover permits will be released online at 7 p.m. MDT on a daily basis for entry on the following day, however these are expected to sell out quickly. Permits are currently on sale for entry from May 23 through June 30. Visit the Recreation.gov website to purchase your permit.

Rocky Mountain National Park has been utilizing this permit system for several years, and it has proven successful in reducing crowds, protecting natural resources and ensuring a better visitor experience during peak visitation times.

If you have questions or need assistance securing your permits, please call or stop by the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center daily between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and use our handy, state-of-the-art information kiosk, which can be used to purchase Rocky Mountain National Park passes and permits.
