Easier Hikes
- Fraser River Trail: This family friendly paved path links the towns of Fraser and Winter Park. It is perfect for biking, walking, and roller blading.
- Lower Cataract Loop Trail: This 2.3 mile loop takes you around Lower Cataract Lake, one of the most beautiful in the area.
- Monarch Lake Trail: This four-mile loop traverses through Arapaho National Forest and the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area with views of Monarch Lake, as well as Arapaho and Buchanan Creeks.
Moderate Hikes
- Columbine Lake Trail: Located in the San Juan National Forest, this steep, switchback-filled trail leads to wonderful views of the lake’s crystal-clear waters.
- Elk Mountain Trail: This route treks steadily uphill to the summit of Elk Mountain, offering spectacular views that are worth the climb.
- Jim Creek Trail: An enjoyable 7.5 mile trail near Winter Park travels parallel to Jim Creek for most of the way and also includes a gorgeous waterfall.
