Grand Lake Creative District Rings in the Holidays with Craft Bazaars, Theater & Hands-On Workshops

Grand Lake, CO – The Colorado-certified Grand Lake Creative District (GLCD) is rolling out a calendar of full of festive events and hands-on classes this holiday season, from an Olde-Fashioned Craft Bazaar to the Rocky Mountain Rep’s annual show and holiday-themed classes and workshops.

Featured Festive Events

Nov. 28 & 29 – Olde-Fashioned Holiday Craft Bazaar & Tree Lighting Get a jump on holiday shopping and support Colorado crafters! The bazaar features 20 vendors in the Historic Grand Lake Community House. Come on Friday, Nov. 28, for the Tree Lighting Ceremony outside the Community House.

Nov. 28 & 29 and Dec. 27 – Festive Victorian Kauffman House Museum Open for the Holidays Tour the festively decorated Kauffman House and enjoy special holiday treats. The house is open from 1-4 p.m. each day. Admission: $5 for adults; free for kids 12 and younger.

Dec. 13 & 14 – Rocky Mountain Rep’s Home for the Holidays Join Rocky Mountain Rep alumni for a festive and heartwarming holiday tribute. Staged and directed by Michael Querio and Jeff Duke. Buy tickets here. (Showtimes: Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. & Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.)

Creative Holiday Classes

Throughout December – Glass Fusing: Christmas Ornaments Class Create a one-of-a-kind Christmas ornament in this two-hour, beginner-friendly workshop from Rocky Mountain Folk School featuring glass artist Linda Dewey. Dec. 6 – Watercolor: Holiday Postcards Class Add a creative touch to your season by making your own watercolor postcards with the Rocky Mountain Folk School. Instructor Emily Weil guides you through a process combining loose watercolor with unique ink marks using sticks. Sign up here.

Dec. 13 – Beaded Snowflakes Class Explore beadwork by creating three unique snowflake ornaments in this Rocky Mountain Folk School class. Children are welcome to take part with an accompanying adult. Register here.

New Year’s Celebrations

December 27, 5:30 and 8 p.m. – Comedy Night in the House The Grand Arts Council sponsors an evening of fun and laughs featuring comedians from Comedy Works in Denver. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available. Register here.

December 31, 9 p.m. – New Year’s Eve with Rocky Mountain Rep Celebrate as the Rocky Mountain Rep invites an alumni performer to return to Grand Lake for a one-night-only performance, followed by the Town of Grand Lake Fireworks. Tickets available here.
