Grand County’s YMCA of the Rockies – Snow Mountain Ranch Hosts Indigenous Films Screening to Support Native Youth Snowsports Camps

Grand County, Colorado – YMCA of the Rockies – Snow Mountain Ranch is pleased to announce a free community event on Friday, December 12, from 4-6 p.m., featuring a screening of inspiring short films. A panel discussion and Q&A session with the featured filmmakers will follow the screening.

The event aims to raise awareness and support for the Tlingit and Haida Native Youth Snowsports Camps in Alaska, which directly benefit Native students in grades 3-5 living in Alaska by providing access to winter sports.

The evening will feature four powerful short films exploring themes of identity, land access, and the spirit of snowsports:

  • Let My People Go Skiing by Ellen Bradley
  • Internal Peaks by Vanessa & Jr
  • Back to the Land: Mountain Access by Connor Ryan
  • Common Unity (working title) by Connor Ryan

The panel conversation and Q&A session will give attendees a unique opportunity to interact with the directors and discuss the impactful themes of their work.

Snow Mountain Ranch is offering a special incentive for community members to support the Tlingit and Haida Native Youth Snowsports Camps. Attendees who show proof of any donation to the Tlingit and Haida Native Youth Snowsports Camps will receive a free trail pass at the Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center valid for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday (December 12, 13, or 14).

"This event is a wonderful way to bring community together, enjoy incredible films, and support breaking down the barriers to accessing snowsports for Native youth on their homelands,” says Kristen Spronz, Social Responsibility Director at Snow Mountain Ranch. "We encourage you to join us for this very special event and donate to support Tlingit and Haida Native Youth Snowsports Camp.”
