Byers Peak

Byers Peak is a prominent mountain summit just west of Fraser and Winter Park, Colorado. Reaching an elevation of 12,804 feet, Byers Peak is easily identifiable and one of the most beloved natural landmarks in Grand County. This massive mountain is also the highest point in the Byers Peak Wilderness area, which covers 8,801 acres within the Roosevelt and Arapaho national forests.

Hiking Byers Peak

There are only two main trailheads in the area, but there are many routes and loops allowing visitors to select a hike that fits their skill level and desired distance. If you’re looking for a challenge, you can hike all the way to the summit for an expansive view of Grand County and the surrounding mountain ranges: Vasquez Mountains, the Never Summer Range, Indian Peaks, Rocky Mountain National Park, Williams Fork Range, and the Gore Range. Don’t forget to bring your camera along to capture the beauty. Camping and rock climbing are also popular activities around Byers Peak.
