From mountain music festivals and concerts to ski races and family-friendly events, Grand County has something for everyone all season long. With almost an event every single day from November to March, come make the most of your stay in the Rocky Mountains.
To help with the planning, we've made a list of some of our favorite winter events for you:
With extensive events across the county, your New Year's Eve adventure is sure to be grand. Participate in the New Year's Eve party, torchlight parade and fireworks at Ski Granby Ranch, or head over to Hideaway Park in Winter Park or the Kauffman House in Grand Lake to catch unforgettable fireworks displays.
The Stagecoach Classic at Devil's Thumb Ranch is an "off the map" 30km or 15km classic only cross-country ski race. Whether you are a serious nordic skier and racer, an old-school tourist, or anywhere in between, the Stagecoach Classic is a unique chance to experience a trek from Devil's Thumb Ranch through the old Idlewild Ski Area to Hideaway Park in Winter Park.
The Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade is one of the most beloved Winter Park traditions. Enjoy Christmas carols by the bonfire before taking in the spectacular view of glowing torchlight skiers coming down the slopes, followed by Santa Claus and his helpers. Sit back and watch a spectacular fireworks show before attending Christmas Eve interdenominational services located in the lower level of the Balcony House and Catholic Church.
If you're an avid fisherman, you won't want to miss the Wolford Mountain Reservoir Fishing Tournament. With thousands of dollars of cash prizes, this is truly a grand competition. This year, the contest also includes a free youth division with prizes for the top 10 largest fish!
